Andre's is a neighborhood barbershop that is traditional in every sense of the word. I bought the shop in 2011 from it's most recent owner, Andre Youmara, a French immigrant who himself bought it in 1959 from its previous owner. Andre's is not a gimmick or a historical reenactment, but is an authentic, yet contemporary incarnation of an age-old institution. I myself am a second-generation barber, as well as the third owner of the shop, so I have a deep understanding of and respect for the tradition of barbering. However, I also realize that at the end of the day we're just cutting people's hair.
